A quickie because I’m behind schedule. Woke up, packed, checked out. Went to the same breakfast place as yesterday. I ate a nutella crepe (I know, it’s very bad of me, I took lacteeze and panadol though.) We walked to a Pandora store and bought mum an Eiffel Tower charm, then walked back to the beach and sat under a shade cloth with cocktails again.
After pampering ourselves, we went back to get our luggage, and caught a cab to the airport so we could finally leave for Venice. The only food at the airport contained gluten, so yeah, I ate it again, and yeah, I took panadol, and yeah, I know that’s not a miracle cure. We also bought chocolate to eat on the plane, don’t judge me. But I ended up sleeping on the plane, I don’t even remember it really, so now we just have chocolate.
Once at Venice, it was a mission getting to the hotel, eventually got a (really expensive) water taxi. But we got here, and we checked in, and the guy asked for our passports and asked where our last name came from and decided to speak to us in Spanish because it’s so much easier for him. I thought we would avoid the whole Spanish thing once we left Spain but apparently not! But we understood everything he said anyway, because he didn’t really use big words, so it’s all good :)
We went for a bit of a wander before finding a place to eat, the streets here aren’t actually big enough for cars and it’s kind of trippy that every street is tiny and also that there aren’t main roads, just main canals. Plus, there’s no place where you really feel the size of Venice, because there’s no general place of congregation of tourists, just lots of little side streets.
Anyway, Nikki and I went “back to the hotel” and dad got coffee and Eli and Montxo skyped us and we stumbled through a conversation with them, even though the sound was low quality and we were speaking Spanglish. After skyping, we went to sleep. A good sleep.
